"A pseudoscience is a doctrine or belief system that pretends to be a science."

"Pseudoscience tries to masquerade as science (knowing the prestige that we now attach to scientific things), but when you examine the claims closely, they do not hold up to scientific scrutiny."

"However, there are several of the more important principles that we all need to avoid being duped by pseudoscience:
1. Extraordinary Claims Require Extraordinary Evidence
2. Burden of Proof
3. Anecdotes Do Not Make Science
4. Arguments from Authority and Credential Mongering
5. Bold Statements and Scientific-Sounding Language Do Not Make It Science
6. Correlation Is Not Causation
7. The World Is Not Black and White, but Shades of Gray
8. Special Pleading and Ad Hoc Hypotheses
9. Not All "Persecuted Geniuses" Are Right"

Orbs / Anomalous Orbic Images (AOIs)

"Spiritual or other-worldly interpretations of "orbs" in photographs should only be considered under conditions in which all sources of stray reflection and diffraction have been eliminated from the environment."

"Believe it or not, you are surrounded by dust at all times. It is unavoidable. The only true way to be in a dust free environment is to be inside a vacuum, and I am not speaking of your household cleaning appliance. I have heard from many individuals and groups that orbs could not possibly be dust because there was no dust present at the time. This is highly incorrect reasoning, and as we will continue to discuss, you cannot evade dust inside or outside, you can only control how your photos are collected."

"It’s easy to see dust in the air if you switch on a flashlight in a dark room. Point the flashlight across the room while watching where the beam of light passes through the air. You will see little flashes of light in the beam. These are caused by dust particles drifting through the light beam."

SciShow’s “The Science of Dreaming”

Here are some frequently asked questions we receive about dreams:
Does the content of a dream have any  meaning?
Can friends and family members who have passed on visit us in our sleep?
Is it possible for dreams to be precognitive, foreseeing future events?
Does lucid dreaming enable us to travel out-of-body?

There's really no way for us to know for certain whether visits from deceased individuals and precognitive or lucid dreaming actually occur. However, there is a difference between what we speculate might be possible and what science-based evidence tells us is likely probable. SciShow’s “The Science of Dreaming” explains what goes on inside of our minds and bodies while we sleep and why our dreams are so important to our waking lives.

How We See Color - Colm Kelleher

When someone claims to have seen a ghost, what exactly are they seeing? Perhaps they have been witness to a physical manifestation of the supernatural, on the other hand maybe their mind was misled into perceiving something that wasn't physically present. Let's return to the elementary of understanding how it is we visually perceive our world in general with another fun video from Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED).
